Felony Charge Filed Against Chicago Area Educator for Child Porn

Felony Charge Filed Against Chicago Area Educator for Child Porn

Posted in Criminal Defense

A Chicago area teacher is facing a felony charge for possession of child pornography. The man was charged after an investigation that supposedly revealed that he was using the internet to chat with underage children. The felony charge was levied against him when law enforcement found child pornography on his computer.

The Illinois man is accused of trying to meet and lure young girls through chat rooms online. He would supposedly attempt to exchange messages with the girls that were of a sexually explicit nature. This type of contact is illegal, as is the possession of child pornography. Police searched the home of the man, and they say that a tablet computer was found with images of child pornography, but it is not clear where he got these images.

While he is still an employee of an Illinois school system, his particular job status is not clear at the moment. He does have the right to seek legal counsel for these charges, but it is not clear if he has done so. If he is convicted of these charges, he could face substantial jail time and other penalties.

Child pornography charges are serious, yet this man should still be considered innocent unless a court finds him to be guilty of the felony charge. Guilt can only be proved with an overwhelming burden of proof, and it is not clear how much evidence the prosecution has against the man. Defendants often have several options when approaching their criminal defense plan, which could include fighting the charges, seeking the lowest penalties and more.
