27 Jun Spousal support request dropped in complex divorce casePosted in Divorce
Illinois readers may be aware of the high profile legal battle underway between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Their complex divorce case has made headlines as the two are publicly battling over spousal support and accusations of abuse. Depp has denied all abuse allegations, and just recently, Heard has dropped her request for support.
Before she withdrew her claim for spousal support, she was seeking $50,000 per month. Ms. Heard also obtained a restraining order regarding her estranged husband after she accused him of battering her on more than one occasion over the duration of their 15-month-long marriage. She dropped the request for spousal support, claiming that she was being attacked in the media despite the alleged abuse against her.
This complex and highly publicized divorce outlines how complicated the end of a marriage can become. Emotional battles can lead to lengthy, stressful and, ultimately, costly legal battles. While sometimes it may be necessary to fight for a beneficial divorce settlement through litigation, others may find it possible to reach acceptable terms out of court.
Each divorce is different as every Illinois couple is unique. The goals of every individual facing divorce will vary from person to person, but it is important to work with a lawyer who can help reach these goals in an efficient manner. From spousal support to child custody, the matters that must be resolved in a divorce can be complicated, but no one has to navigate these sensitive issues alone. A person does not have to be a famous actor embroiled in a high-profile divorce to benefit from a legal team experienced in complex divorce cases.
