Man Faces Weapons Crime and Drug Charges in Illinois

Posted in Weapons Crimes

There are many items that a person is not legally allowed to possess. One of these items is a weapon without the proper permits. Those who are caught by authorities with illegal weapons can end up facing criminal charges that can result in serious punishment. It turns out one man is now facing this situation after recently being arrested on a weapons crime and other criminal charges in Illinois.

The police arrested the man after they allegedly witnessed him going through a red light at a high rate of speed. However, instead of chasing after the man, the police decided to have a U.S. Department of Homeland Security helicopter follow the man to keep track of his location. The police claim they have video of the man exiting the vehicle that they claim to have witnessed speed through a red light.

When the police finally caught up with the man, they discovered he was in possession of a loaded firearm that the authorities believe had been stolen. They also found marijuana in the man’s possession, which resulted in drug charges. He was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving as well as various other criminal offenses.

Now the man will have to answer these criminal charges filed against him in Illinois. If he is found guilty, he may be facing serious punishment including possible time behind bars for the weapons crime and the various other criminal charges. However, the suspect is innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. Therefore, he may still be able to put up a significant legal defense if he is properly prepared for his court proceedings.
